The goal of Forty Thieves Solitaire is to move all cards to the eight foundation piles, building sequences in suit from Ace to King.
Players progress by strategically moving cards between the tableau piles, the waste pile, and the foundation piles.
The game offers a single playthrough without reshuffling the deck, making it more difficult than similar games.
Game complexity: Medium
Odds of winning: Very bad, barely 1 out of 10 games
Allowed moves:
‣ Move single cards between tableau piles in descending suit order.
‣ Move cards from the waste pile to the foundations or tableau piles.
‣ Move Aces from the tableau to any empty foundation pile.
‣ Fill empty tableau piles with any card.
Cards can only be moved one at a time.
Sequences on the tableau must be built down by suit.
Only cards one higher in rank and the same suit can be added to the foundation piles.
There is no redeal; the game is played with a single run-through of the deck.
Empty tableau piles can be filled with any card.
Score for a Forty Thieves Solitaire is a sum of seconds spend for a game and moves done during it.
InSolitaire.com allows you to retract your last move with "Undo".
Don't forget to check your statistics – for that choose the Statistics item from the More menu in the top right corner.
Decks: A single standard 52-card deck is used.
Piles: Game table holds: 8 Foundation piles – for building sequences in suit, 10 Tableau piles – for building sequences in suit or holding cards, 1 Waste pile – top card of the stock pile, face up and 1 Stock pile – remaining cards face down.
Deal: Tableau piles are dealt four face-up cards each. Foundation and Waste piles start empty. Stock pile holds the remaining cards.
Forty Thieves Solitaire uses a single run-through of the deck and has a more difficult layout (10 piles of 4 cards) compared to Forty and Eight.
The single run-through of the deck makes it crucial to plan moves efficiently, as mistakes can have lasting consequences.
Focus on building sequences on the tableau and uncovering Aces to move them to the foundations. Carefully plan your moves to avoid creating blocked situations.
